Vision/ Mission
The vision/mission of this Department is to be center of excellence in Soil and Environmental Studies and provide satisfactory services to the University, general public and the private sector in all areas relating to the Soil and the Environment.

Goal and objectives
The goals and objectives are:
(i) to produce graduates who will be useful to themselves, the public and the private sector;
(ii) to produce postgraduate students whose knowledge and practical experience can compare with such students produced in similar institutions within and outside Nigeria;
(iii) to attract Researchers and Consultants from Universities inside and outside Nigeria for the purpose of exchanging knowledge, scholarship and experience;
(iv) to be a consulting centre for all agencies that have anything to do with Soil and Environmental Studies.
